I had fun this morning with Chelsea as we wandered around Macon & Milledgeville looking for different spots to take her senior portraits! She braved the heat, the water, the possibility of snakes and more to make this session happen-and I must say-it turned out pretty great. Chelsea has so much personality and is so bubbly it was easy to get her to smile.

I just got back from an awesome wedding on Cocoa Beach in Florida. My friend from work, Susie married her sweetie Steve in front of the closest family and friends. It was a hot wedding (both temperature & because the couple looked FANTASTIC) followed by a reception filled with dancing and laughs. This is just a quick sneak peek for the newlyweds when they return from their Eastern Caribbean cruise, until I can get a bigger post up. Congrats you two!

I haven't been home long from shooting Susie & Steve's engagement pictures, and already I am beaming! This had the easiest engagement session in history! Steve loves the camera, and the camera loves him back...Susie is incredibly gorgeous and didn't need any direction...the weather was amazing...our locations were our own private playground...it was just awesome! Susie & I work together, and the minute I found out she was engaged, we started talking about photos. She said again today that she hadn't even thought about e-photos, but from looking at the previews below-you would think she had been practicing for this session for years :-)

These two lovebirds are getting married on Cocoa Beach in Florida this June and then whisking away on a cruise! I told them earlier, and I am telling everyone now-their wedding is going to be AMAZING! Susie & Steve (man, those two names just roll of the tongue together)-I had a blast today, and cannot wait to celebrate your upcoming wedding with you! Enjoy these GORGEOUS pictures!

Sweet Baby Jackson-Central GA Newborn Photography

I met little Jackson and his parents this week, and it was lots of fun! He was more interested in seeing what was going on during our session than wanting to snuggle up and sleep. From the get-go, his mama said he did not enjoy being naked-and he proved her right in the end! Jackson did what Jackson wanted, but all in all-I am very pleased with the outcome of this session! It seems to be the time of year for major life events within my circle of friends! My friends from waaaay back in 4th grade gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Friday evening. I made my way up to Atlanta Saturday evening to meet this little girl. Both parents are shutterbugs, but it's always nice to have someone show up and take pictures of your baby while you get a shower...or at least I would think so! Everyone-Meet Ella!

I was privileged to capture the special moments of Brandi & T's wedding this past weekend in Sparta. One of my very best friends got engaged a few weeks ago, and her fiance' had things planned down to a T!! With family and friends behind her (literally & figuratively) she said YES! Cooper wrote a song, made a guest list, laid the rose petals, and fooled Heather into showing up for her own proposal. I was one of the lucky ones who got to be down in the sanctuary instead of on the balcony while everything went on. Here are a few pictures from their special night! My little sister graduated yesterday, and I am so very proud of her! I just want to brag on her for a second, because she is simply amazing! She graduated Magna Cum Laude with OODLES of honors and awards. She has had her hands in just about every aspect of Georgia Southern, and it seems like everyone on campus knows her! From Mass Com Student of the Year to Dean's List to mission work in Argentina/Greece/Michigan and more-Jamie Dee is one awesome chick. Tomorrow, she jet sets off to San Francisco for a celebratory week with our Grammy-going to see Wicked & Cirque De Solei, munching her way through China Town, and so much more! Congrats Little Sister-your Big Sis loves you to the stars!

Team Nation-Part 2

I can honestly say I have not has as much fun in post production with any pictures as much as I had with these! The reception photos from the Nation's wedding just begged me to crank up my music and sing loudly while going through them. Now, I am sure most photographers would say it's not conducive to concentrating to have music turned up and be dancing in the chair...but I have pretty much decided that's the only way to do it!
Anywho-I have alluded to the fact that the Nation Wedding Reception was a blast, and the time has come to show off some of the photos. Keep in mind that the pictures cannot do justice to just how much fun everyone was having! I will let the do the talking...Enjoy!

Remember me telling you Blake played baseball? These were the cake topper!

The reception started off calmly, with their first dance...

...followed by an emotional dance with Dad...

...followed by a dance with Mom (remember how tall Blake is?!).

The cake seemed to give the Molly a tough time, but Blake was proud of her.

Then Molly returned the love while Blake struggled to get his cake cut.

We learned the way to master catching the bouquet...by swatting it to the floor

The guests then let loose and started to get down!

As if the dancing wasn't fun enough-2 of the guys from Table 7 (if I recall correctly) took turns singing!

Blake & Molly were exhausted by the end of the night, but it was obvious they fell more in love with each passing minute!

few weeks back, I posted a sneak peek of Molly & Blake's wedding. As I wind down the post-production process, I couldn't help but feel the need to share more from their fantastic day in Statesboro. This post consists of the more elegant parts of the day (not that the entire day wasn't elegant). So, this is the ladie's man of the day...he brought the girls coffee, veils (well, just one), and even searched through the bride's closet for dresses a guest could wear!

I cannot believe that my little old man is already a year old! Technically, Cale is my husband's cousin's son-but to keep things simple, I call him my nephew. Cale has my heart (so does his sister) and it has been so much fun seeing him learn and grow over the past year. He has probably quadrupled in size (see him as a newborn here). We got together the other evening for his 1st birthday dinner & cake smash! Enjoy a few photos of him and his tasty cake :-)

SNEAK PEEK: Team Nation

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of capturing the essence of Blake & Molly's wedding! I have just begun editing them, and must say-I sat here with a smile on my face the entire time I was going through them. If you remember, Blake is a big time baseball player (see engagement pictures), and from what I understand the running headline for this couple has been Team Nation for a while. As of Saturday at 5:30, Team Nation was made official with the "I Do's" and a lot of fun! While I plan to have a bigger post later on to show off all the fine-tuned details Molly put into her big day, I couldn't wait to share a few that jumped out at me just now!

No Longer Newlyweds!

It's official...my hubbin and I are no longer in the newlywed category. We celebrated our 1st anniversary on Oct. 18 and jumped on a boat the next day to repeat our honeymoon on a cruise. With friends in tow, we visited Nassau, Bahamas. The 5 days went by like lightening, but we are glad to be back home too. I can't believe it's already been a year! I love him more every day, and cannot wait to spend the next 65+ years (that's how long a couple on the cruise was celebrating) with him.

PS...I am still swaying as if I was on the boat!

For those brides worrying that all sorts of things will go wrong on your wedding day...

Yes, you might forget to iron things before you get dressed...

Yes, the flowergirl may flash everyone coming down the aisle...

Yes, your groomsmen may attempt to pee in a public fountain...

Yes, your toasting glasses might get broken...twice...during the toasts...

But at the end of the day, everything was perfect and you married the love of your life!

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Pritchett!

I had so much fun this weekend with Heidi & Gage as they tied the knot. When Heidi first called me, I knew this was a wedding I did not want to pass up. You could tell that love was the most important thing of the day...that and being on a beach! Well, the two decided it was too far to trek it to the coast, but instead found the beach at the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee. In a small, intimate ceremony with friends and family, Heidi & Gage promised to take out the trash, smile often, and love each other forever (yes, trash was mentioned in the vows...Heidi wanted it in there so that she would be free of trash duty forever :-P). Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and I rode around the Ritz on a wild golf cart ride (thanks Andy) for some portraits. You know when someone is truly smitten with their wife when you have a hard time getting them to look at the camera. The entire time, Gage was staring at his glowing bride! Afterwards, the couple joined their guests in the Forest for an evening filled with roasting hot dogs and s'mores, laughing, and glow bracelets.
Thanks to Andy for being an awesome Wedding Guru (and good luck in Augusta!), the rest of the Ritz staff for putting together a gorgeous wedding, and of course to Heidi and Gage for letting me be a part of your special day! I hope you two had a great time on Amelia Island and I know the kids are excited to have you back home.

Amy Rocks the Dress!

Have you ever wondered what to do with those prom dresses you wore once and have been hanging in your closet ever since? The Rock/Trash the Dress sessions are not just for wedding gowns anymore! Amy & I had a BLAST roaming around and playing in her dresses. It was our goal from the get-go to make it to the carnival at the mall for a few pictures, but wanted to get a little dirty before that. Between hay, mud, the pool, and the carnival-I am beyond excited with the way these pictures turned out! I have had the hardest time picking a few to preview. Instead of just slapping some pictures up here, I figured a slideshow would better show off this amazing Rock the Dress session!

New Goodies!

If you have recently had a session or you just know me well enough, you know that I have been wanting to seriously throw my computer out the window, against a wall, in the pool, or anywhere else that would allow me to get some frustration out! Instead of breaking what was my lifeline, I kept trucking on with it, silently calling it mean names. By this past weekend, I had had enough-it was time to give the computer a break. Of course, I couldn't very well go without one, so instead I price searched, bargained, told associates what they didn't know, and came home with an amazing 23 inch monitor and 750gb hard drive! {insert HUGE sigh of relief} It is a beauty, and I am tickled to use it for editing and the likes!

In the spirit of excitement and exploration, I decided to try my hand at designing my very own christmas cards. Many photographers purchase templates from others for the season, and I can honestly say I don't blame them. Creating your own is tricky, time-consuming, and takes a LOT of creativity. Anyways, I made a few and am pretty proud of them. I think I might try again another day too! The pictures I used are some of my old favorites. Baby Bump that is!! The holiday spirit continues in this post, because baby Caroline is due Christmas day! This little girl is growing with the quickness, and I was lucky enough to capture a few moments with her and her parents this weekend. I have to brag a bit on sweet baby Caroline for a minute! I had Mommy lay down for a bit and I put a pair of shoes on her belly. The instant I laid down on the ground to start shooting, Caroline started kicking those shoes! It was as if she was telling us she didn't want to wear them. I kid you not, the girl is going to be a soccer star or something, with the way she was kicking in there. I hope you enjoy these previews as much as I enjoyed watching Caroline's soccer match!

I had the pleasure of spending some time with them out at their lake house this weekend, as they celebrated the oldest son's 40th birthday and grieved the loss of UGA's football game. This family is spread across the southeast and don't get to see each other often enough, so it was a perfect occasion to get some family pictures. Meet James!

James is a senior at Baldwin High this year, and is also one of my swimmers! Instead of the same old stuffy senior portraits, James wanted something a little more his style. We wandered around a funky warehouse to find some different backdrops and I am pretty pleased with the way things turned out. We also did some formal portraits, but instead of showing you the traditional, obligatory headshots, I thought I would show-off something more we can do with your formals.

Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause.

Through our professional photographer network, we are helping breast cancer patients to celebrate life with charitable photography sessions. Individuals may choose to document their fight against the disease before or during treatment, or prefer to capture their victory by scheduling a session within 12 months after treatment is completed. Photographers world-wide are now available to donate time and talent to celebrate life and support the cause. There is no cost or obligation to the breast cancer patient. Clients participating in a Think Pink Session will receive a complimentary photo session, as well as a set of 10 small prints from the session. Meet Justin, a senior this year at JMA. I had the honor of trailing him and his friends earlier this year as they went to their Junior Prom, and it was such fun to get him in front of my camera again! We visited a few places here in town to capture the essence of Justin, until I was able to figure out that he tends to be the good kid/'trouble maker.' To round out the session, we finished up where many trouble makers end up :-) I had fun during this shoot, and am pleased to say we did not get into too much trouble! GMC Prep Senior Portraits

I had such a fun time this morning with C and her mom! I cannot say it enough how much I enjoy adventurous clients, especially when they say things like "I want a picture with a cow!" or something like that. What is even more fun is when I can provide that extra personalization to a shoot by actually having that cow to shoot with! I also dabbled in the formal side of senior portraits today, after having a few requests. Now, I have mentioned before how I would much rather make whatever I needed for a session instead of spend 3-4 times as much to buy it--the girl's senior portrait drape is no exception. With some help from my seamstress of a mother-in-law, we created what I think is a pretty darn good drape. Today's session was the perfect time to try it out. I am so excited about this session's photos, and cannot wait for you guys to see them! Enjoy!!

Meet Sara...The Mini-Me!

Sara is the daughter of someone I teach with, and a senior at GMC. We soon discovered that she is basically me, reincarnated! She is a hoot, and I always love shooting with someone willing....no, no...asking to take a picture on an old toilet we found! The theme of the day ended up being 'In the Air' with Kallie on the trampoline (see previous post) and Sara asking to jump off a hay bale and "swinging" on a rope swing! I had a blast with Sara and hope you enjoy the preview!

Kallie is a senior this year at EBLA that I met through Jessica (see previous post). They are best friends, and Kallie's mom swear's Kallie's pictures are going to be better than her cousins! I am going to stay impartial and let the viewers decide, but I will say I had a great time on Saturday. I am pretty sure I have mentioned in the past my undying desire to ride a horse?! Well I pulled up at the location Saturday morning and there, right in front of me, was Flash-a handsome horse! He was more interested in the camera than actually posing, but gave us a few good shots! Thank you Kallie-for being a great sport in the awesome old barn (I'm glad we didn't see any snakes) and jumping on the trampoline-I had a great time. Meet the Beautiful Baby Ivey

Meet Ivey, an adorable 2 month old little princess. She is the apple of her mommy's, daddy's, and Nana's eyes! I had the pleasure of capturing her funny little faces this morning while she worked on holding her head up and telling us all that she did NOT want to lay on her back. She is so strong for such a little girl, and I can tell she is going to bring so much joy and happiness to Mommy & Daddy! She was so well behaved during our session, and we were all amazed at how quickly she fell asleep towards the end of our shoot...it seriously took her less than 5 seconds from crying to knocked out! I wanted to get a sneak peak up for the family tonight-I can't wait for them to see all the pictures of their beauty. Enjoy!

A few weeks ago, I was able to witness the wedding of one of my best friends from high school. Aimee and Chris were married at a beautiful outdoor site at Vecoma By the River. Set outside of Stone Mountain Park, the Yellow River flowed behind the scenes during the intimate ceremony. It was a fun wedding and so nice to see old friends again! Lights...Camera...JACOB!!

It seems I have been the go-to for the up-and-coming stars of Milledgeville lately. First it was Taylor-the screamband screamer, then Leighton with his mad guitar skills, then Elizabeth the amazing Ballerina, and now...Jacob, the actor. Jacob has spent the past few years floating on stage! He has been on a few cruise lines as part of the performance crew. While he loves doing that, he is looking to branch out while on land for some different roles. In order to do this, he needs some more updated headshots. I love a new challenge, so in preparation for this session, I did some research (delightlfully aided by Jacob too). Today's actors are moving away from the standard black-and-white headshots, and going for a more vibrant, personal look. I try to stay away from the "typical senior sessions" that many photographers lean towards. Time and time again, you see the same locations, the traditional 'tree' and 'railroad' shots. Why would you want the same pictures as everyone at your high school? Not everyone likes the trees, some people are afraid of trains! What I try to showcase in each of my sessions is the personality in front of the camera. It's fun for me to learn a little bit about everyone I work with, and I enjoy thinking up fun and exciting locations that will represent you.

I had a blast with Elizabeth a few weeks ago while doing her Senior Session. Elizabeth is a little of everything all wrapped up into one nutshell! She can be that sweet ballerina, the rocker chick, the dirty cowgirl, and more. We started off with her horse, who turned up camera shy, and then headed towards town. Instead of leaning up against a tree-she climbed one and chilled out on a deer stand, instead of walking on the railroad tracks-she did a arabesque on them! Needless to say-we got a little bit of everything and I am pretty excited to show off some of the images from this Senior Session! Enjoy!!

This evening, I had the pleasure of shooting Jessica's senior photos. It was at her request that we go to the hay field for her session, as she liked some pictures on my website that I had previously done there. I try to keep each session I do unique, but how could I resist her complimenting and admiring other photos?! Things were a bit itchy out there this go-around, but we had a good time, even if we did make a 'big-bird sized nest' out of a broken bale of hay (that's what my husband called it when he went to the field later in the evening)! ...no, not really! Leighton had me cracking up the entire time we were shooting his session last week. It's a not-so-little-known-fact that I am gullible, but I try to hide it as best I can. Somehow, Leighton was always quick to the punch, whether it be saying he needed to keep his shades on because his mom didn't like his blue eyes or telling me that his shoes were wet because his toes sweat. I am not sure if it was my constant laughing or his playing the mad guitar/singing skills that made the session fly by, but Leighton has got to be one of the easiest people I have had in front of the camera! Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Well, that's where Blake took his fiance' Molly after our shoot in Piedmont Park last week. I was able to meet up with these two lovebirds while Blake was on an All-Star break. That's right folks...Blake is a baseball player. But not just any old backyard player, he is the real-deal, playing on a minor league team with the Seattle Mariners! I was about to fly out to San Francisco and we could not have timed it better...especially when we bumped our shoot up an hour to avoid the rain!

Blake and Molly will be married in October, and I can't wait for their wedding-the colors Molly picked are going to be GORGEOUS!!! They are such a sweet couple, and I can already tell they like to have fun. Molly's sister tagged along with us in the park...and boy were we glad she did! She sort of became our go-to girl for the spare clothes, aka sweat wipers! Anyways, the pictures do the best job at talking--enjoy!

Taylor is the singer in a scream band, and wanted something a little 'off kilter' for his session. Since Milledgeville is not known for it's rocker styles and musical tastes, it was a fun challenge to find somewhere for this shoot. We had fun exploring the nooks and crannies of this place, and I think Taylor's rock-star attitude...and amazing greenish-blue eyes...really shine through in these images.

The Glitter Boys sure do!!! I traveled to Mississippi this past weekend to see them play at the Bottling Company, and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen! The lead guitarist, Chase, is the nephew of one of my good friends, and we were treated with a bit of backstage time, as well as after-show pictures with the band. Between 80's cover songs and their own originals, the concert was full of energy and fun. I could not resist the opportunity to capture a few photos while enjoying the music, and am pretty excited with the results. ...or should I say Milkk & Kimberly?! I have known these two since they started dating, some 4 years ago. Kimberly and I were in the teaching cohort together at GC&SU. Kimberly is stepping out and taking another leap towards "growing up" (which, by the way, I do not plan on ever doing...fully) and has purchased her first home in Warner Robbins. Unfortunately, Milkk will stay behind in Milledgeville to finish school. When Kimberly told me why she wanted to schedule a shoot, she told me that over the course of their relationship, the two of them have yet to agree on a photo they both like. There is always something one or the other doesn't like about the pictures, or they are taken at that awkward-diagonal-from-above angle that screams "self-portrait!" I had a great time with these two and their fur-baby Eden (who is the sister to one of my pups). I hope you two can find a few pictures you both agree on! Enjoy!!

Peachtree International Triathlon

Can you swim 1 mile in a lake, bike 30 miles, and then run 6 miles all in less than 3 hours? I sure can't, but for the 446 participants on Saturday-that was the goal. Ranging in ages 19-69, guys and gals braved the 73 degree water, the monster hills, and tunnels that smelled like roadkill for the coveted title of "Triathlete." I am proud to call the triathlon winner my Uncle Mike, and the 20th place finisher my little brother (top in his age group and his first tri since he was 8). In an effort to continue learning all I can about sport photography, I brought my gear with me. While the pictures are here for you to see, you cannot truly understand the amount of energy, excitement, and adrenaline the day held. Love Is All You Need!

Love was the theme of the day last weekend. Diane and Horace did not need the frills and fancies of a wedding day...it wasn't about that. The love between these two was more important than anything else. The couple exchanged their vows quietly and intimately last Monday, May 4th, and decided to have a fun, family celebration on Saturday. While their vows were said without the fuss, Diane still wished to create her very own wedding pictures album. A kind and generous relative of the couple contacted me with the hopes of giving them a few pictures to remember these moments. Although they didn't know until I showed up-the couple enjoyed being themselves in front of the camera. I love working with people who aren't afraid to snuggle up close and let their true colors shine!

On a side-note, while Diane ran back inside to freshen up after a short while, Horace filled me in on the proposal. The two were out riding the 4-wheeler in the moonlight one evening. With the ring in his pocket, Horace could not keep from asking her any longer...nor could her son (who, I was told was extremely eager for his mom to get engaged! Needless to say-he asked, she said Yes! So sweet!!

These 4 guys and gals are some of the finest upcoming seniors Middle Georgia has to offer, and I am honored to be able to work with them. Elizabeth Babb

Elizabeth is a Senior at Baldwin High School. She is an active and proud member of the Baldwin High Marching Pride and is the Band Captain for the upcoming year. She has been dancing with Studio One School of Dance since she was 3 years old and is a member of their Competition Team. She is a member of the Spanish Club and hopes to be a part of the BHS Theater production of FAME in the fall. Elizabeth is also the senior president of the 4H Horse club in Baldwin county.

Audie Wilcox

Audie is a student at Jones County High School. I am a former JCHS Competition Cheerleader and am taking my Senior year off to concentrate on academics. I enjoy softball, shopping, and photography. I plan to go to GC&SU for two years and then finish at UGA.

Leighton Akins

Leighton is an upcoming senior at JCHS where he is also on the marching band staff and in symphonic band and chorus. Leighton is currently working as the Music Director at Christ Community Church in Gray, Georgia. He plans on going to college after high school to earn a degree in Music Education and minor in ministry.

Taylor Moats
Taylor is 17 and is a student at Baldwin High School. He is a member of the Baldwin swim team and is on the drumline with the Baldwin Marching Pride. He also swims for the Baldwin Aqua Dragons and can be found on stage with the BHS Theater Department's production of Guys & Dolls.

Michelle Rocks the Dress!

Trash the dress? No, not this one! Michelle was so excited that after 3 years and a baby, she still fit into her wedding dress. Nevermind the fact that the dress barely fit inside my car! What started off as a Rock the Dress session quickly led into a dual Bridal Portrait shoot! We wormed our way through town to various locations to capture these images-of which I had a terrible time sifting through to share with everyone. Asher's Debut

Meet Asher, this adorable little 11 day old bundle of happiness! His mommy is one of my little sisters in my sorority, and it was such a pleasure and privilege to take her newborn baby's pictures. For 2 whole hours, this little guy whimpered, yawned, wiggled, and more...but did not fall asleep! It wasn't until the last few photos that he started to get fussy-as it was time for him to eat. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of being the official photographer for Relay for Life, Baldwin County. I was the team captain for my school, but offered my services in order to capture some of the major moments. Relay was tons of fun this year! If you didn't make it, you missed out. Aside from lots of music, games, and homemade tasty treats, the purpose of R4L remains the we all were there. Finding a cure for cancer brings so many community members together all over the world, and we are so much closer to finding that cure with every dollar raised. The event started off with an Easter Egg Hunt for all the kids, followed by the survivor lap, the parade of teams, a singer/songwriter performance, the luminary remembrance ceremony, and so much more! "We Don't See This In The City"

It's a well-known fact that I am a city girl gone country. It is almost daily that I am exposed to something just a little more 'redneck' or 'truly southern' and today was no different. My cousin and I drove out to the Sinclair Dam this afternoon with hopes that the flood gates were open. Sure enough-4 gates were all the way open and billowing water down the backside of the dam. After giving up on our shoes (news flash: apparently the new big thing this season is to wear patterned rain boots...we-however-wore sneakers and dress clogs), we walked through the puddles and mud to get some shots. Between her holding the umbrella for me and my camera being carried around inside my coat-we were able to protect my gear. As for the river, I was astonished to see that everywhere we were the previous day was now completely underwater! Anyways, it was cool to see the clouds of mist and the swirls of water...and experience what we determined was a pretty redneck thing to do (you should have seen the big-wheeled trucks pulling in as we left)! One of the Code Enforcement Officers and a Baldwin Co. Sheriff came to watch the water too. Enjoy the pictures-they do not do justice to how awesome it really was!

"I Don't Have My Bathing Suit!"

That's what I was told this afternoon while we were taking a few photos near the lake. Ahh the innocence of a child. Although she didn't want to look at the camera much today, I was able to get a few good shots while scoping out a new location. It was also nice to not have it raining (this morning...it poured later this afternoon) for a while so we could "go to the water" as Laramie said. Anyways, I am excited for finding a new location, continuing to work on learning all the little tricks to the D300, and of course, spending time with some of my favorite people!

Oh, and by the way, the logo is in transition. I am working on figuring out how I want it to look, so any input you have-I would appreciate. :-)

JMA Prom 2009

I had the pleasure of photographing some of the finest JMA juniors and their dates this past Friday night. It was a dreary day, but the rain held off long enough for us to get some group photos at Little River Marina before the crew headed to dinner at PJ's Steakhouse. I must say, the prom was amazing and I just might be willing to trade my past prom experiences for theirs! I had a great time with these guys and their gals! I hope you enjoy the preview as much as I know these 6 enjoyed their prom!! All the ladies carried bouquets, which was really neat. I always had a corsage on my wrist, but the bouquets really looked elegant during the lead out!

My DIY ShootSac!

For a while now I have been admiring a funky camera bag used on the go. The bag is called a ShootSac, and it houses your must-have gear while you are working...essentially making it where you don't have to lug around your big gear bags. Well-being raised to search for clearance tags and discounts, I could not bring myself to spend the nearly $200 wanted for one. Instead, I put my creativity to work, along with my mother-in-law's expert sewing skills (which I am working on too), and made my own. What's cool about my bag is that I also embroidered it with my name! Talk about easy advertising! Check out a few images of the finished product. Meet EmmyLou! She is the 1 year old bundle of sunshine who calls Ashley & Josh mommy and daddy! I went to high school in Atlanta with Ashley and we have kept in touch over the years. Josh is her man and such a sweet guy to his two ladies. I am so lucky that Josh's brother lives nearby, because whenever they go visit him, they come visit me too! Emmy turned 1 earlier this month and is full of energy and smiles. She has this full face smile that is adorable...and I would venture to say she gets that from Mommy! Busy Weekend

This weekend was a busy one! From camping (the last picture of this post is of the sunrise we woke up to) to puppies, the Mudbog to a shoot with EmmyLou (preview to be posted tomorrow), its been fun! Odd as it may seem, I recently had a photo published in the local newspaper, The Union Recorder. They did an article about Kirk's grandfather's funeral and how he rode from the funeral home to the gravesite in the back of a Ford pick-up truck. Of course, the paper didn't impose the day of the funeral, but needed an image for the article. I was the gal for the job! Click the image to be linked to the article. It's been a while since my last post...life has been full of ups and downs. Kirk's grandfather passed away last week, and family has been in town since then. While at the visitation Friday, we got to see Mr. Larry and Mrs. Gina! They have been following my blog (guess that's 2 people that actually check it out!), but suggested I put more names to the pictures I post. I will be sure to do better with names, and want to say a huge THANK YOU to you both for checking out the blog!

Snow?!

That's right! It snowed in Central Georgia...and across the entire state! Like every other crazy southerner-I took a few moments to go play outside in the snow. The only difference is that in the past, I have played in the snow with sleds, snowballs, and snowmen. This time-I played with my camera, my husband, and my dogs!! While it really didn't stick, we did enjoy the beautiful white fluff blowing all around the yard. Enjoy a few photos from our snow day!

PRCA GA National Rodeo

Kirk & I went to the Rodeo a couple of weekends ago. It's become a tradition for us, seeing as how the first time was our "first date." It was really fun, especially the equestrian guru who had 3 of the most tame horses I have EVER seen. The guy got the horses to hug each other and him, as well as lay down on their backs while he sat on their belly. I would venture to say he might be the only person that can safely do that! S0 you have seen pictures of Cale with his daddy, mama, and sister-but all separately. This time around-its all four together, mixed with some individual shots too! I have really grown fond of playgrounds over the past few weeks...it really brings out the fun and true smiles in kids, while also bringing out the child in mom and dad! I truly believe that family portraits should reflect their own personalities, instead of all being posed and sitting the same way as everyone else. As I grow as a photographer, I really enjoy discovering new tricks for getting those 'oh so hard to capture' genuine smiles! Enjoy :-)

Serious, yet so very sweet at the same time.

You can't go to a playground for a photo shoot without playing! I love this photos. She was crawling up the slide saying "hold me Daddy! Pull me up Daddy!" As I looked up to get a picture of her climbing, Daddy poked his head in and reached for his daughter. LOVE the result.

Happiness is being a Mommy...or so I'm told...I haven't felt that except for with all our animals, but this picture definitely exudes the love of a mother and daughter!

One of my best college friends married her high school sweetheart and I was lucky enough to capture a few photos throughout the day. I was a guest at this wedding, but being that my camera is always by my side-I had to do a little of my own documenting! I know how it feels to be a photographer at a wedding where people keep jumping in front of you to get the same shot-so I tried to stay off to the side. Enjoy!

Brian plays the bagpipes and holds very dear his heritage. Terrisa told him he was not allowed to play the pipes at the wedding (the had a friend play before the ceremony), so instead, he surprised his mother by coming out dressed in his kilt for the Mother-Son dance! Both mom and bride cried their eyes out! It was beautiful.

So yesterday Kirk and I went over to Thomas & Michelle's house. Kirk was helping Thomas with the process of finishing in their basement. A few weeks ago, I built a backdrop to carry around with me (although I still much prefer being outside and on location). What better time to try it out than when I have nothing better to do and a cute little girl ready to play in front of the camera?! Here are a few of the fun shots we got. Cale is 3 Months Old!

I can't believe that my little old man, Cale, is already 3 months old. I went by to get my Bailey kiddos fix (and mommy and daddy, of course) the other day. Cale is now smiling, while trying to talk and laugh. He is paying such close attention to everything around him-and I just cannot get enough of him. While Mommy ran out to the bank and Daddy got ready to "catch all the bad guys" I took a few pictures of Cale. Enjoy!

Wow! Welcome to 2009, which should prove to be an amazing year! What better way to kick off the new year than by celebrating my neice's first birthday?! Savannah is a New Years Eve baby and Kirk's family celebrated in style on New Years Day! I love this little girl like she was my own, and she had a blast pulling tissue paper out of bags and listening to all the noises her new toys made. If I may say so, by the way...Savannah is going to be one of the best dressed little girls in town too!

The Smith Family! Meet Thomas, Michelle, and little Kaylee. Since the birth of their first baby girl nearly a year and a half ago, the Smith's had not had a decent family photo taken. I sure hope I gave them a bit of what they were looking for. Thomas gave Michelle a photo package at Olan Mills, but little Kaylee had other things in mind when they got to the studio. Busy as she is, they were unable to get any good photos. Thomas was a groomsmen in our wedding, and Michelle and I have grown our friendship while avoiding our silly husband's conversations. Needless to say, an outside playground location was the best idea we could have had to keep the kido occupied. After slides, bubbles, rocks ( I have never seen a child get so excited about rocks before), slides, and more...meet the Smiths!

With my getting married and the holidays around us, I haven't been shooting with Danielle in a while. I have, however, made one more investment into the world of photography, purchasing Lightroom!! I expelled all my free trial options with the various email addresses I have, and figured I needed to just buy it already. Before my wedding, I tagged along on a few shoots, including engagement photos of April & Justin, the wedding of Chan & Deanne and the 3-month shoot of baby Parker. I am now having a blast playing with all the functions/settings/editing options in Lightroom on photos from those shoots. Enjoy!

Ahhh....my little old man! Crystal has been wanting some shots of her and her sweet boy before he gets too big. We had a great time trying to keep the dogs out of the shots (we were in the sunroom at my in-laws house), keep my father-in-law from walking in during the intimates, and keeping Cale from getting too fussy. I am also very excited to finally have a picture of me and my sweet old man too--Crystal was looking through the images on the camera while I held him and she shot the last picture of us! Enjoy!

He has arrived! The big belly Crystal has been carrying around for the past 9 months has popped! Unfortunately, I was not able to be there for the birth (I was on my honeymoon). When we got home on Friday, I rushed over to meet my sweet boy, who has been having some jaundice troubles. I spent the better part of Sunday with the Bailey's and have dubbed Cale as "my little old man" as he is wrinkly...but SUCH an adorable little boy. I took some 6 day old pictures while I was there, and cannot wait to show them off! Look for them in the next few days :-)

That's right...I took photos while still wearing my wedding dress! Don't get me wrong, I had an amazing photographer (who also happens to be a long, long time friend). It took all I had to keep the camera out of my hands, and after the reception, the bridal party, my new ***husband*** (I love saying/writing that), and I went over to GC&SU campus to take some fun pictures. While Callie was shooting the guys--who were so late getting ready for the wedding that they didn't get any pictures taken before the wedding---I broke out my camera and took some photos of my girls! Enjoy---I sure did!!

Sunday afternoon, I had the opportunity to photograph a friend and coworker of mine. Saralyn has had a whirlwind year, getting married and having a beautiful little boy! They haven't had time to take pictures since Jesse was born, so what better time than the present?! Robert was a bit apprehensive to be in front of the camera, but I have never seen a man melt as quickly as he did when Jesse was in his arms! We had a great time shooting, searching for the geese, and avoiding Robert's bunny ears!

The Woods are HUGE UGA fans....can you tell? They wanted to represent their decked out car during the shoot too :-)

Busy Saturday!

Last Saturday, I spent the better part of the day shooting people with Danielle :-) I love telling people that....I shoot people!

Anyways, we kicked off the morning with a maternity shoot/family photos. The mommy had the cutest and perkiest pregnant belly I have ever seen! Danielle had lots of ideas she wanted to try for the big belly, and is hoping to get into the maternity realm more. I learned lots about the use of backdrops and draping people during that shoot.

After that, we fell right into a shoot with the cutest little boy, Parker! He was such a good baby, and is beautiful. His big brother got in on the photo action, but liked making the bear/lion faces more than nice ones. I think some of the best pictures from that shoot came after Parker fell asleep and was half-awake! During this shoot, I think I mostly learned that even the goofiest of faces can turn out super-sweet pictures.

After about an hour of down time at home, we went back behind the cameras for a wedding at Bartram Forest! I did not know what to expect for this wedding, but it was the epitome of beauty out of the ordinary! Key & Belinda were a loving couple who focused more on the actual marriage and celebration than all the tiny details so many brides fuss over for months. It was definitely a relaxed wedding, no big white dress or matching tuxedos, the officiant was also the lead singer of the band, just good family fun! During this shoot, I learned a TON! Danielle helped me figure out setting my white balance (I am tired of yellow pictures), and then I figured out my flash and the best positions for it to point.

I can't wait to post pictures from all three shoots-probably after my honeymoon!

Kirk's cousin, Crystal, is pregnant, and due the week of our wedding. She is being induced the Monday before the wedding, but started having contractions last Monday (Sept 29). We did not want to miss the opportunity to capture how giant her belly has gotten, and in an attempt to walk baby Cale right out of her, I took the entire family to the hay field for some photos! A few weekends ago, Danielle had an engagement shoot that I tagged along on. The couple won a free session at a past bridal fair. They were a bit nervous at first, but seemed to open up throughout the shoot. We started off at Walter B Williams Pond, and then went to another location. Here are some of the better shots I took!

Sunflowers

So I have sunflowers in my yard, it was my first attempt at being a gardener. Instead of letting them go to waste, I opted to take a few photos of them. These were my first photos playing with my new flash. I purchased an SB2600 to with my camera. I am still learning how to make adjustments. Instead of leaving these pictures raw, I decided to edit them a little more dramatic. Enjoy! :-)

Saturday I got to tag along with Danielle while she did an engagement shoot at the Riverwalk on the Oconee. I haven't ever been down there, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The couple is getting married two weeks before Kirk and I, and they were cute together. My pictures don't have them looking at me (what happens when you are not the main photographer), but I am proud of a few of them! I am still learning the editing techniques, and unfortunately don't have all the good software (free trials limit you a great deal). Regardless, I am having a BLAST learning from Danielle!!!

Yesterday I met with Mrs. Fields and got to see how she does some editing of photos. She shot a wedding last weekend, and it was really cool to see how she would brighten, fix blemishes, whiten teeth, and so much more! It was amazing!!!! We went over her schedule, and I am going to tag along with her on an engagement shoot next weekend. Even better, she is actually in a wedding in September, and she asked me to be the photographer. She said the bride was going to hire some other girl, but Danielle told her to wait and see if I was available! I can't wait! What will be nice about that wedding is that Danielle will still be there to help and give me suggestions.

Last weekend, Kirk and I went to the beach with some of our friends. I got some good pictures there.

"YIPEE" says Laramie for her Brit!

I met with a fantastic photographer, Danielle Fields, today! She is such a cool lady, and I get to apprentice with her, starting next week! We talked for at least an hour about all sorts of things, photography related and otherwise. I am super, super excited, because this is the big step I need to pursue my photography dreams. What's even cooler about work with her is that she works at GCSU, in the continuing education department, so weekends and evenings are when she does most of her photography work...fitting perfectly with my schedule!
